29 Oct 2013 {Transfer #5: Montauban, France}

Breaking News--I've been transferred to Montauban, France.

I'm excited for this change. Its new and different. Its a small town and we are assigned to a branch instead of a ward. My companion is Soeur Anderson. We came out together and I'm anxious to work with her.

I am great! I had an awesome conversation with an lady on a bench the other day that made me realize that I am getting pretty close to being fluent french speaker. granted I don't know any slang. I make it a point not to learn bad language. When that kind of stuff comes up I just kinda don't pay attention to it. But I can have a good conversation with people and not do too bad with my grammar. Progress right?

Andrea from my last are sadly she dropped us. She got a job and then was too tired or busy to see us very often and then she just stopped talking to us all together. She still comes to YSA activities every once in a while. I pray that she remembers the difference the Gospel made in her life and comes back.

I do not know the outcome of the phillipino men. We didn't get to go see them before I left. we decided it would be best for the Elders to go back and find them.

21 Oct 2013

This week was good. Was an off day. I got creepily flirted with more than I would have liked for one day but then we had real Filipino food and i think that made up for it. I almost ate fish head. That would have just topped off the day but the piece served to me was part of the body.

Last night I had a cool experience. It will probably turn into a miracle. We were in Monaco area looking for an inactive member's house. We were looking for the apartment but the lighting wasn't super good to see the names on the mailboxes so I asked a group of men sitting outside if they knew where this person lived. One man talked to sister Howden for a while trying to figure out that address and name meanwhile on man came and took the book of Mormon out of my hand (I can't even count how many times that has happened)and started looking through the pages he turned to the picture of Christ in the front and told me that he needed this book. He said that he couldn't take it right now because he was with friends but he gave me his name and said that we could find him there. He was very adamant that he needed the book of mormon and to not forget about him. In the mean time Sister Howden had been explaining our purpose to the other men and they all seemed to be interested too and were asking for a pamphlet or something they could read.

they were all a little drunk at the time though...but even in his drunken state this man recognized the picture of Christ and Knew that he needed the book of mormon! So we will go back when they are sober and hopefully they will be even more interested! So its a miracle in progress.

Last week of this transfer! Ah! Time is going by WAY too fast. I think change is in the air. I am leaning more towards me leaving for several reasons but I have said that before and have been dead wrong. Ill be sure to let you know though. Well im sure if I leave the Brias will put pictures of us saying goodbye at the train station on their blog.

Well I love ya lots!

Bonjour!

Well this week wasn't super eventful we went to a Zone conference in Aix and it was really good. I started writing a letter but never finished it so maybe Ill finish it this week? haha

Recently I decided to transition into using my french scriptures and PMG in my studies rather than English. I think its been helping with my spoken french as well. I can definitely read faster than I could before i started using them more.

Oh we finally had a second lesson with a girl who is friends with the YSA's and has been coming to the activities for a while. She has absolutely no religious background so it is really cool to teach her and she even prayed at the end of the lesson!

oh also I need a couple recipes--one for something sweet and another of something not sweet. We are having an international meal for a ward activity and I don't have any recipes with me really so if you could send me some simple yummy american recipes that would be great! Oh a recipes for biscuits so i can make biscuits and gravy sometime that would be fantastic!

Well I'm gonna go for now. I love ya lots!
Jusqu’à la fin!

Allo!

Conference was great! First time, I can remember that I didn't fall asleep and was sad to see the end of each session. The way it works here cause of the time difference is we watched Saturday morning live, Saturday night, then they had priesthood Sunday morning, followed by a rebroadcast of Saturday afternoon session and then a couple hours later we watched Sunday morning live. So I missed the last session.

Ahh!! I got distracted writing my email to president and now I only have 30 mins left to write back! Its okay I have two train rides this week so I should definitely have time to write you some more in a letter.

my thoughts from conference...
-elder dubay-Where am I willing to go? -good talk overall
-I also liked that quote from pres uchtdorf. I loved that talk i want to get several of our investigators to read it!
question. Why does the name Dyches sound so familiar to me? did we used to know someone with that last name?
-we are more than our limitations-elder holland
-shall I falter or shall I finish?-pres monson

This week was weird between exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders and conference we had a lot less time than normal for normal missionary work. And also Sis Howden's mom and grandpa were on a cruise in the area and came to nice to see their cousin who lives in Monaco. The cousin called us and invited us to come to lunch with them. We got permission from president to go hoping that it would be a good missionary opportunity cause the cousin isn't a member. But it ended up being a lot shorter and rushed than planned so yeah. When we called president to ask, he asked if it would make me homesick or make me like her mom more than you. I laughed cause I have the best parents in the world! It didn't bother me at all it was just like a weird member experience and I got some good food.

Oh I added some pictures on the drop box. one of them is graffiti we found it says "I am writing on a wall". I thought it was pretty funny. There should be some from when I wrote you the last letter of where I was sitting when I wrote it. and then I think there is some of other missionaries in Nice. The elders got caught in a freak downpour and were really proud of it. and the sisters were asleep on a train.

LOVE YA SO MUCH!!!!!
Jusqu'a la fin!
